Today our hosted management platform for SmartOS and FreeBSD – fifo.cloud – is leaving it’s closed alpha stage. As part of this, we’re opening up try.fifo.cloud. We would like to use the chance to share a few words about what and why try.fifo.cloud is.
When we started working on fifo.cloud, it was very important to us is giving back to the communities that form the foundation on that we are building the software we love possible. To this end, we decided early on to offer free accounts to enthusiasts and home users.
Out of this try.fifo.cloud was born. It offers a free single-host account to home users and everyone who just wants to run a small system or just toy around. During the alpha, we decided to keep a waiting list to ensure we have some control over signups, now with the alpha done we want to open this up.
try.fifo.cloud offers the same set of features as our small plan with the only difference that it only supports a single host. We hope that it will be useful for home users that run a SmartOS or FreeBSD host at home and just want a simple UI to manage it. To ensure it is truly useful we do not limit the number of zones, jails or KVM’s run on the host and it offers the same API as paid plans.
So if this peaked your interest, head over to try.fifo.cloud and sign up and play around with it. It’s free and no strings attached. And again, thank you to all the people in the greater SmartOS and FreeBSD community that makes projects like FiFo, and fifo.cloud possible!
